Acupuncture and Herbal Facial Rejuvenation

The brightest medical minds throughout the Chinese dynasties dedicated much time in developing beauty treatments for nobility using acupuncture and natural healing herbs.  For example, a tomb was found with a lady wearing a facial mask made of flour so that she would remain beautiful in the after-life. As a longevity technique, the ancient Chinese would massage the ear, grit the teeth and tap their feet on the ground. Acupuncture has since been clinically proven in modern studies to have positive effects on various skin conditions.

Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural and subtle way to help repair damage from the sun and other environmental factors. It is not as drastic and painful as a botox treatment nor is it a substitute for a surgical face lift. It comprises of acupuncture, acupressure, massage, and herbal therapies. It can help to erase small wrinkles and decrease deeper ones. It can also help lift up the areas that might be sagging such as a drooping eye lid, bags under the eye and the sagging of the chin and jowls. In addition it can help brighten the complexion and diminish age spots and dark circles under the eyes. For the best results, a course of treatments may consist of 10 visits. Home care instructions and advice will be given as well.

Questions and Answers:

1) Why use both traditional Chinese herbal medicine (internally and externally) and acupuncture protocols?  They compliment each other with the objective of achieving balance in body, mind and spirit. Acupuncture does a good job at opening the channels while herbs  go after the underlying internal condition and thereby affecting the internal organs.

2) What are the advantages for incorporating Acupressure protocols into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) facial rejuvenation?  You can do this while the needles are retained. The main advantage is that it is harder to get a bruise so it allows you to treat the delicate areas such as the canthus and orbits of the eyes. You can easily go along the channels which helps increase the circulation of blood and qi along that vessel.  Acupressure is better at draining lymph than acupuncture.
